Ron Ritchey

ron-ritchey-nfpa-156x207Ron Ritchey began his career with the National Fire Sprinkler Association after retiring from the Lafayette Indiana Fire Department with 23 years of service - sixteen of those as Assistant Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau. He is now responsible for the oversight of membership services for the five state region in the Great Lakes area and travels throughout the United States conducting training programs to improve the understanding and implementation of the codes and standards relating to water-based fire protection systems.

Mr. Ritchey holds numerous state and national certifications, and his education includes holding an Associate’s Degree in Public Safety and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He has developed and presented many training seminars for code officials, code consultants, and design professionals throughout the country and served as Co-Chairman for the Fire Inspectors Association of Indiana’s (FIAI) Building and Fire Code Committees. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association, the International Code Council, numerous fire chief and fire inspector associations, and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Instructor. Ron has received a number of awards and recognitions from both state and local groups and has served on and chaired various technical code committees.


Tom Hammerberg

tom-hammerbergTom Hammerberg is President of Hammerberg & Associates and lives in Jasper, GA. Tom retired as a full time contractor to the Automatic Fire Alarm Association in June 2017 and continues to represent AFAA on the NFPA 72 Technical Correlating and Protected Premises Technical Committees and presents seminars nationally for AFAA. He has been in the alarm industry for 43 years and was with AFAA for 23 years, serving as President/Executive Director from 2003 to 2014 and Director of Industry Relations from 2014 to 2017. Tom is NICET Level 4 certified in the field of Fire Alarm Systems and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist. Tom represented AFAA on NFPA 3 and 4, NFPA 90A and NFPA 101/5000 Building Services and Fire Protection Equipment and Fundamentals Technical Committees, the ICC Industry Advisory Committee, Life Safety Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Codes, Standards & Technical Research Committee of the Center for Campus Fire Safety.
